Chalice a wine goblet in pietra ollare (height 11,2 cm - rim 9,3 cm). Winecups made of pietra ollare were used by Valchiavenna's noble and merchant class till the 17th century. A goblet similar to the one pictured above was found during restoration work at a 16th century villa in Chiavenna. Today's winecups are fashioned according to the time-honoured design and compare well with those made yesteryear. Wine experts note - pietra ollare gives fizz and sparkle to wine and cordials. .
